Update – Arrest made in the attempted carjacking in St. Rose

ST. ROSE — On Sunday, April 3rd 2022 just after 5:00 pm, deputies with the St. Charles Parish Sheriff’s Office responded to the report of an attempted carjacking at the Pilot Truck Stop on Airline Highway in St. Rose.
The victim, an elderly male, reported that two black male subjects with long hair attempted to steal his car. At least one subject was armed with a firearm. They were unsuccessful due to dropping the keys. The suspects fled the scene in a dark gray, four-door Honda sedan. There were no injuries reported during this incident.
Through investigation, detectives have determined only one subject was involved. A 16-year-old juvenile, from New Orleans has been arrested for this incident. The subject is believed to have committed another carjacking in Jefferson Parish this morning and that was the vehicle he was operating when taken into custody at the McDonalds in Destrehan. The juvenile’s parents became aware of the crimes he was involved in and were instrumental in assisting with locating him.
