Hahnville, LA – Effective May 1, 2022, River Birch Renewable Energy will begin providing waste collection services to all St. Charles Parish residents and businesses. The company will utilize brand new equipment, which will include Automated Side Loader (ASL) and traditional rear loader trucks. This hybrid system offers several advantages, including reduced wind-blown litter and odors, and improved rodent control.
To ensure all garbage is picked up, residents should place their trash carts by the street with the handles facing their home and at least three feet away from mailboxes, parked vehicles, and fire hydrants. Residents are encouraged to place as much garbage as possible in their cans. If additional waste is placed beside the can, it should be bagged if possible. The remaining garbage will be picked up via a chase truck on the same day.
Collection days will remain the same, and residents will continue to use their existing carts. Additionally, bulky waste collection will continue to occur every other week.
Through a competitive request for proposals, River Birch Renewable Energy offered the lowest price for waste collection. The St. Charles Parish council voted to make River Birch Renewable Energy the new waste collection contractor as the five-year contract with Pelican Waste was set to expire. Residents will see a $1.31 increase on waste collection binging the total monthly fee to $18.23.
Residents may contact River Birch Renewable Energy at 985-649-1180 or info@rbre-la.com to report any possible missed pick-ups as well as any requests for carts to be repaired or replaced. They will also be able to answer any questions or concerns you may have concerning your Solid Waste Collection and Bulky Waste Collection.
The Contract Monitor’s Office may also be reached concerning issues regarding garbage at 985-331-8604.
