Rams shine at Green Devil Relays; Ty’Jon Monroe places 1st in hurdles

EDGARD — West St. John’s outdoor track and field team found success at the 2022 Green Devil Relays at Plaquemine High School.
Boys Results
Ty’Jon Monroe came up big for West St. John, finishing first in the 110m Hurdles with a time of 15.70a. Monroe additionally earned a bronze medal in the 300m Hurdles with a time of 44.74a.
David Mayeaux placed fourth in the 1600 meters with a personal best of 5:36.16a.
Mikhail Burrell finished sixth with a personal record of 11.78a in the 100 meters. Kylin Smith also competed in the 100 meters, placing 13th out of 32 competitors with a personal record of 11.97a.
Smith and Burrell also competed in the 200 meter dash.
In the 400 meters, Matthew Borne finished sixth with a personal record of 57.25a. Also competing in the 400 was Jaydon Bailey.
Timothy Bartholomew had his best performance in the javelin, earning a fifth place finish with a distance of 125’10.
Bartholomew also had a top 8 finish in the shot put with a 36’2 throw. Meanwhile, Demarrius Smith had a personal best with a 30’6 throw.
Tyler Wesley and Nicholas Cox represented West St. John in the 800m dash.
Borne, Monroe, Burrell and Smith competed in the 4x200m relay, while Cox, Wesley, Bailey and Borne represented the Rams in the 4x400m relay.
Girls Results
Kharma Creecy had a fifth place finish in the shot put with a distance of 29’11.
In the discus, Kori Williams represented the Rams and set a personal record of 70’0. Williams also placed ninth in the javelin with a personal best of 58’2.
Meanwhile, Paris Williams had a personal record of 1:13.04a in the 400 meters, finishing 11th out of 25.
