LAPLACE — With nearly three decades of experience in healthcare billing, Tanya Brown dreamed of opening a business to share her knowledge and skills with the St. John the Baptist Parish community.

A ribbon cutting ceremony was held this week for IA Creative Services, now open at 429 W. Airline Highway in LaPlace. The new business serves as a support system to the Louisiana Department of Health as a Medicaid Application Center that also offers direct corporate care training and healthcare virtual assistance/workspace.

The public is invited to walk in and learn more about the services offered.

Tanya Brown has experience in management and has overseen various departments within healthcare systems. Now, with the support of her husband, Teddy, she is ready to start a new journey.

“He was able to help me with getting everything set up and finding a location that is best within St. John Parish. We reside here, and we wanted to make sure it is accessible to clients coming in while also getting enough information to refer out if we are unable to help,” Tanya said. “I’m excited. I’m used to working with the public, and so is my husband. At this point, I want to be more hands on in order to provide our services and spread our knowledge to help the people within the community. We look forward to building a great reputation in St. John Parish.”

Tanya said IA Creative Services is ready to assist clients with Medicaid applications.

Individuals qualify for Medicaid automatically if their family receives aid through the Family Independence Temporary Assistance Program or if they receive help from SSA through Supplemental Security Income.

Disabled individuals, pregnant women, children ages 18 and under, those who have corrected vision lower than 20/200, and those who are considered low-income and receive Medicare are likely to qualify for Medicaid.

A Medicaid application can also be accessed at www.iacreativeservices.com in case an individual is unable to come into the office for assistance.

Another major service offered by IA Creative Services is the CPR Corporate Care Training Program, which provides cost-effective certification courses for employees. All courses are OSHA compliant and taught by a certified American Heart Association instructor.

CPR and BLS (Basic Life Support) are among the courses offered.

“Right now, our schedule consists of weekends. Within the next three months, we will start to spread them out during the week,” Tanya said. “You can schedule online two weeks prior to the course.”

Heart saver CPR, first aid and AED is geared toward individuals with little or no medical training who need a course completion card for their job or those who simply want to be prepared in case of an emergency. Course completion cards are valid for two years.

The BLS course, often utilized by police and fire departments, trains individuals to quickly recognize cardiac arrest and deliver life-saving chest compressions and appropriate ventilations. Participants learn to help a person until EMS arrives.

ACLS courses are geared toward healthcare professionals who direct or participate in emergency response.

CPR and BLS classes will be offered beginning in April, while ACLS/PALS courses will open in September.

IA Creative Services can additionally assist private practices and healthcare facilities through Healthcare Virtual Assistance.

“When facilities are unable to do certain tasks in office or hire someone to come into the office, we take those particular tasks on,” Tanya said.

Virtual assistants can be utilized for administrative tasks or customer support tasks.

“On the website it gives them package choices. They can choose registration, cold calls, scheduling, insurance verification,” Tanya said.

Virtual meeting/consult space is available for small groups to collaborate.

IA Creative Services is open from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 7 a.m. to noon on Saturday.
