LAPLACE — In celebration of National Read Across America, St. John Parish Sheriff Mike Tregre and several officers enjoyed reading to students at local elementary schools March 17-18.
Sheriff Tregre read “Delilah’s Delightful Dream,” a story about respecting others and cooperation and teamwork, to third graders at Emily C. Watkins Elementary School in LaPlace.
He and other officers also read to kindergarten through third grade students at LaPlace Elementary.
Sheriff Tregre and all of the officers stressed to students that reading is essential to success in their life, and the more they read the more they will learn.
