SCSO explains large police presence on West Bank

On Saturday , March 19, 2022 just after 10 am, a deputy with the St. Charles Parish Sheriff’s Office was actively patrolling in the area of Highway 90 and Barton Avenue in Luling, LA and observed a silver Nissan sedan speeding.
The deputy attempted to stop the vehicle, using his emergency lights and siren, but the vehicle refused to stop.
The vehicle was noticed a short time later pulling in to the parking lot of the Winn Dixie on Highway 90 in Luling, LA. The driver fled from the vehicle and was detained in the same area shortly after. The driver was transported to the hospital by EMS.
Although residents may have noticed a large police presence in the area, there is no threat to the public.
This is an ongoing investigation.
