Satsuma – Shortly before 9:00 p.m. on February 7, 2022, Troopers from Louisiana State Police Troop A began investigating a two vehicle fatal crash involving a motorcycle on Interstate 12 west of Satsuma Road in Livingston Parish. The crash claimed the life of 26-year-old Shaquille Nolan of Baton Rouge.
The initial investigation revealed the crash occurred as Nolan was traveling east on Interstate 12 on a 2013 Honda CBR500 sport bike. For reasons still under investigation, Nolan lost control and was ejected from the motorcycle. After being ejected, Nolan was struck by a 2016 Nissan Altima that was traveling east on Interstate 12.
Nolan was not wearing a DOT approved helmet and sustained fatal injuries. He was pronounced deceased on the scene. The driver of the Nissan was properly restrained and was not injured. As part of the ongoing investigation, toxicology samples were obtained from both drivers for analysis.
Troopers encourage all riders to take an approved motorcycle safety course. These courses teach safe riding practices and help you apply safe riding strategies that can help reduce your chance of injury should a crash occur. Making good choices while riding a motorcycle, such as never driving while impaired and obeying all traffic laws, can often mean the difference between life and death.
