HAHNVILLE — Sylvia Taylor and her daughters, Syrita Steib and Aspen Steib-Murphy, continue relief efforts for residents of the River Parishes, where recovery efforts from Hurricane Ida remain slow. Over the past month, along with dozens of volunteers from their respective organizations, the trio has provided hot meals and supplies to more than 600 residents of St. John the Baptist and St. James parishes.
Beginning at 5 p.m. October 20, residents of St. Charles Parish can also receive hot meals, cleaning supplies, cases of water, gas cards and other items at Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church (1 Rectory Lane) in Hahnville. The event will continue as long as supplies last.
Sponsors of the event are organizations represented by the trio—Sylvia Taylor & Associates, Attorneys at Law; Operation Restoration, which Syrita founded and serves as executive director; River Region Chamber of Commerce, where Aspen is board chair. She is also director of communications for the Krewe of Harmonia, another sponsor.
Ms. Taylor is a resident of LaPlace, while Syrita and Aspen grew up in nearby Vacherie. After seeing the damage in these areas, the three began reaching out to their networks to arrange relief for their home communities.
