LAPLACE – Hurricane Ida definitely put a dent in River Parish football for a few weeks, but these schools have returned full swing and have started their seasons with a vengeance. Tonight’s Friday Night Lights show the resilience and determination of our absolutely amazing River Parish athletes and coaches.
Let’s start with the SCC Comets, who traveled to Mississippi to defeat Jefferson County with a score of 41 – 0. The Comets, coming into the season with a new coach, improve their record to 2-0. Outstanding contributions were given by Ayden Authement, Brandon Kraigle, Carter Chauvin, Davon Sturgis, Regdrick Hackett, and Zach Vicknair. They host Vandebilt Catholic next Saturday at 2 p.m.
Other scores from local schools are as follows: West St. John defeated Frederick Douglas, 16-14, Lutcher defeated Central Lafourche 53-6, St. James defeated Assumption 43-12, Southern Lab defeated Riverside 64-13 and East St. John fell to Thibodaux 16-14.
