Mobile Workforce Unit helps residents sign up for Disaster Unemployment Assistance

LUTCHER — The Hurricane Ida Mobile Workforce Unit will assist individuals in signing up for disaster unemployment assistance from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sept. 10-11 at First Community Antioch Baptist Church, located at 10860 Highway 3125 in Lutcher.

The Mobile Workforce Unit will be in Donaldsonville at the Lemann Memorial Center, 1100 Clay Street, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sept. 12-13. It will be stationed in St. John the Baptist Parish at River Parishes Community College Reserve Campus, 181 REGALA Park Rd., from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sept. 14-15.

The Disaster Unemployment Assistance program provides assistance to individuals whose employment has been either lost or interrupted as a direct result of a major disaster, as declared by the president of the United States.

If you are already receiving state unemployment insurance benefits due to COVID-19, there is no need for you to apply for DUA and you should continue filing your weekly certifications. If you were already unemployed and did not lose your job as a result of the disaster, please do not apply for DUA.

The deadline to file a DUA claim as a result of Hurricane Ida is October 4, 2021. Individuals in the following parishes may be eligible: Ascension, Assumption, East Baton Rouge, East Feliciana, Iberia, Iberville, Jefferson, Lafourche, Livingston, Orleans, Plaquemines, Pointe Coupee, St. Bernard, St. Charles, St. Helena, St. James, St. John the Baptist, St. Martin, St. Mary, St. Tammany, Tangipahoa, Terrebonne, Washington, West Baton Rouge and West Feliciana.
