Jeanne and I evacuated to Texas for the hurricane. Believe me, it wasn’t my idea, but I’m glad we did.
When we returned, I was pleasantly surprised that our apartment was not damaged. Many of my family members living in our parish weren’t so fortunate.
Our thoughts and prayers go out to those who had their property damaged. It’s a message to all that we control very little, except our attitude and the choices we make. We can become bitter or choose to become better, knowing that God is in control of our lives. He is a positive God and expects us to always be positive, regardless of our situation.
I’ve seen and heard of people who lost a lot, but still reached out to help some less fortunate. They evidently know that the secret to living is not being selfish, but giving.
