VACHERIE — With the start of the 2021 prep high school football season just around the corner, MaxPreps named its Top 10 senior prospects for the Class of 2022 in each state across the country as rated by 247Sports.

Shazz Preston of the St. James Wildcats was named a Top 10 Louisiana player for the Class of 2022. Preston is a 6-foot, 190-pound wide receiver and one of the top sprinters in the state. He helped lead St. James to an undefeated 15-0 record and a 3A state championship as a sophomore, and he has been compared to Tylan Wallace of Baltimore Ravens.

Preston has not announced his college plans.

Wildcats coach Robert Valdez said Preston is one of eight starters coming back on the offense for the 2021 season
