LAPLACE — Leadership River Region hosted its 2020-2021 Class graduation for its 17 leaders at the Belle Terre Country Club on June 9, 2021.

Each year, up to 25 individuals are selected to participate in a 10-month educational program that includes an opening retreat, seven monthly day sessions, and a class project. Participants receive in-depth exposure to the critical issues facing the river region parish community through lectures, discussion groups, on-site visits, simulations and other leadership development activities. Issues to be addressed during the year include healthcare, government and law enforcement, regionalism, education, parish perspectives (two-part session) and arts and culture. The location and format of each session is different. The program enables participants to develop their leadership capacities, build strong relationships, and prepare themselves to grow and engage their surrounding communities.

During the event, Scott Burton, vice-chair of the River Region Chamber of Commerce, gave encouraging regards to the class. In addition, Parish President Jaclyn Hotard, RRCC Executive Director Chassity McComack, River Parishes Tourist Commission Executive Director Jay Robichaux and a few family members were in attendance supporting the graduates.
