Maria Elena Diaz Alejandro Garcia passed away on Wednesday, February 17, 2021 at the age of 87.  She was a native of Havana, Cuba and a resident of LaPlace, LA.  Beloved wife of the late Alvaro Gaspar de la Santisima Trinidad Garcia Pinera.  Loving mother of Alvaro Aquilino Garcia (Helen M. Z. Harwood), Maria Melania Garcia Clement, Elena Celerina Garcia Labat (Layne Michael Labat, Sr.) and Maria Victoria Garcia Coy (Bernie Dean Coy).  Daughter of the late Jose Ramon Diaz de la Fuente and Pilar Alejandro y Fernandez.  Sister of Maria del Pilar Diaz Alejandro Matos (Victor Enrique Matos Urjelles), Jose Ramon Diaz Alejandro and the late Regina Pilar Diaz Alejandro Buxton and Carlos Federico Diaz Alejandro. Sister-in-law of the late Luisa Celestina Garcia Pinera de Tabe and Aquilino Garcia (Dionis Garcia).  Grandmother of Maria Elena del Pilar Rodriguez Uribe (Ronald Uribe), Cristina Maria Isabel Rodriguez Dornan (Sean Dornan), Diego Alvaro Rodriguez (Victoria Grace Carney Rodriguez), Alejandro Francisco Rodriguez and August Alexander Matzko Sangster.  Great grandmother of Maria Isabel Uribe, Katalina Grace Rodriguez, Dylan Jude Dornan, Callum James Dornan and Iliana Graciela Dornan.  Also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, 529 W. 5th St., LaPlace on Tuesday, February 23, 2021 from 10:00 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. with a Rosary beginning at 10:45 a.m. followed by a Mass at 11:00 a.m. Interment in St. John Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
