Editor’s Note: L’OBSERVATEUR received the following through a Norco Elementary School newsletter on February 4. Last month, Norco Elementary students Ella and Emma Robicheaux, Brynlee Ford and Makenzie Powers started a hot chocolate stand and raised more than $1,000 for teacher Bridgette Oubre, who is battling cancer after several years of remission.
To My Norco Community Family,
As unfortunate as it is, I found that you sometimes have to fight the same battle twice. We wanted to reach out to our Norco Elementary family to say how we have been in awe by how much we are loved and supported by so many. We could never express how thankful we are. My strength and courage are empowered by those big and little. When people ask where I live and teach, I always describe Norco as that little piece of heaven. My school and community is something special. The only way you can really appreciate what that means is by living and working in Norco. My journey in Norco started with my children attending school here, starting in pre-K. They have always felt valued and loved by the faculty and staff. Being able to work here is just as special. As an educator here at Norco, I always strive to make each of my students feel they are loved and supported each school year. I work with so many amazing people here at Norco who strive to meet that same goal. We come together as a family to make students feel loved and appreciated as much as we possibly can. The families here have done the same for my family. We are touched by the kind words, cards, letters coming from students and families past and present expressing their appreciation that I was a part of their child’s journey and their positive words helping me get through these challenging times. I am the one who is truly blessed to have been apart of their journey. Thank you helping me overcome these challenges one mountain at a time. Your love and support gives me strength to continue to climb these mountains one at a time. I truly cannot wait to be back at school to be surrounded by those big and little who make my family and I feel so loved.
