The Future of STEM Scholars Initiative program (FOSSI) is providing scholarships for high school seniors planning to study science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) at a Historically Black College or University.

FOSSI offers four-year scholarships of $10,000 per year and will provide internship opportunities, facilitate mentoring and give leadership training.

The American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AIChE), The American Chemistry Council (ACC), The Chemours Company, and the HBCU Week Foundation joined forces to establish the scholarship program, funding approximately 150 scholars.

FOSSI is the chemical industry’s first collaborative equity, diversity and inclusion initiative to create pathways for more underrepresented groups to enter and succeed in the chemical industry.

Applications for FOSSI scholarships are being accepted through February 15, 2021 at www.AIChE.org/FOSSI or www.HBCUWeek.org. For program questions, contact Sandy Sidey (sandys@aiche.org).

About FOSSI

The Future of STEM Scholars Initiative (FOSSI), is a collaboration between the American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AIChE), The American Chemistry Council (ACC), Chemours, and The HBCU Week Foundation aimed at creating pathways for more underrepresented groups to enter and succeed in STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) careers within the chemical industry.

FOSSI will fund 4-year scholarships of $10,000 per year, provide internship opportunities, and facilitate mentoring and leadership training for students majoring in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) at Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs).

Our initial focus is on students studying at HBCUs. This effort will be expanded and offered to other underrepresented groups in the future.
