RESERVE — Two showdowns in Reserve ended in losses for the East St. John Wildcats and the Riverside Academy Rebels.

A battle of the Wildcats ended with Destrehan on top the night before Halloween. East St. John entered the game undefeated but ultimately ended the night with a 31-12 loss.

The game started out well for The E as Marcus Jackson and Travis Turner helped the team collect yards and points for a 12-3 lead at halftime. Destrehan’s Razan Keller answered with a breakout run to make the score 10-12. Destrehan gained the lead by the end of the third quarter with a 13-yard run to make the score 17-12.

Destrehan’s Calvin Bullock, Jai Eugene and Shane Lee sealed the comeback win for the St. Charles Parish Wildcats in the fourth quarter.

East St. John will host Central Lafourche in a district game this Friday.

Riverside Academy

When the Riverside Academy Rebels and the Isidore Newman Greenies met on the Mickey Rousseau Field Friday night, the Rebels knew they had to stop Arch Manning. Newman knew they had to contain Gage Larvadain. But the Newman running game did the most damage and ran past the Rebels 31-26.

The Rebels got on the board first with a 58-yard pass from Luke Hymel to Terrell Hilliard. Riverside scored again at the end of the first quarter on a 35-yard pass from Larvadain to David Reynaud before Newman tied the score 14-14 at halftime.

Newman established its lead in the second half. With less than four minutes to go in the game, Hymel found Murphy in the middle of the field for a 52-yard catch and run for a touchdown as Riverside trailed 31-26. Murphy finished the night with three catches for 105 yards for the Rebels.

The Greenies used a dominating rushing attack to run down the game clock and preserve the 31-26 victory.

Riverside will travel to face St. Martin’s Episcopal in a district game this Friday.

West St. John
The West St. John Rams had an open week in the schedule and did not play on Oct. 30. With a 1-3 season record, the most recent game ending in a 14-0 loss against Salmen on Oct. 23, head coach Brandon Walters is looking for a strong district showing.

The Rams will play a district game at Country Day this Friday, Nov. 6. They will face district opponent Riverside Academy Nov. 13, filling a week that was previously open in the schedule.
