Parish President Jaclyn Hotard issued a Mandatory Evacuation for Pleasure Bend and low-lying areas North of I-10 in LaPlace, including Frenier, Peavine and Manchac. She also issued a Voluntary Evacuation for St. John Parish. This order went into effect at noon on Sunday.

St. John is under Hurricane and Storm Surge Warnings and a Flash Flood Watch. Residents are asked to bring vehicles, boats or campers to higher ground as Tropical Storm Sally, expected to strengthen into a Hurricane, could bring heavy rainfall and storm surge.

Sandbag sites are open until 7 p.m. “It is critical that residents take Tropical Storm Sally seriously and finalize all preparations now,” said President Hotard.
