LAKE CHARLES – On Saturday, September 5, two local religious organizations joined other relief efforts taking place in the aftermath of Hurricane Laura, each in their own way.

The group from Rising Star Baptist Church delivered much needed supplies to the Lake Charles area through their distribution at the Our Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic Church.

At the St. Martin de Porres Catholic Church of Lake Charles, over 500 hot meals were prepared for local residents. Knights of Columbus Council 9623 of Laplace’s Ascension of Our Lord Church cooked and served the meals consisting of jambalaya, beans and bread
