Years ago, my friend C.J. Tastet sent me the following note:
“In company, guard your tongue. In your family, guard your temper. When alone, guard your thoughts. “
As I reflect on that note, I’m thinking that in a group, your tongue can hurt yourself and others. In the family, anger can destroy it and prevent the father from being the provider, protector and priest of the home.
When alone, Satan uses this time to play with your mind, which is often referred to as his playground, with the strategy to defeat you. He uses this opportunity to convince you that you deserve to satisfy your selfish worldly desires. When the timing is right, he creates doubt in your mind to question the Bible, which encourages you to debate God’s word with other believers. The bottom line is that he is a liar and a deceiver.
Regardless of the temptation, if you call on God, He will give you the power to resist the attack and win the battle of the mind game.
I’m amazed how many people believe in God, but not in the devil. The majority of that group believes in Heaven, but not Hell. Some in this group even confess to be Christians.
Satan’s ultimate goal is to divide and destroy God’s chosen few. That seems to be what’s going on in our country.
