COVID-19 weekly update: St John reports 872 cases

LAPLACE — There were 872 of reported COVID-19 cases and 82 deaths in St. John the Baptist Parish on Thursday June 4, according to the Louisiana Department of Health. This marks an increase of 22 cases and 4 deaths since last Wednesday’s report.
St. Charles Parish has 647 reported cases and 45 deaths, while St. James has 303 reported cases and 27 deaths.
Statewide, there are 41,562 confirmed cases of COVID-19 across all 64 parishes. This marks an increase of 2760 cases since last Wednesday’s report.
There were 2,772 deaths statewide as of Thursday June 4, which was an increase of 137 since last Wednesday’s report. The first death in the state was reported on March 14.
According to the Louisiana Department of Health, there are 613 COVID-19 patients in hospitals across the state. Of these patients, 82 are on ventilators.
The state is now reporting that 31,728 people who have tested positive are presumed to have recovered as of May 31.

Governor John Bel Edwards announced that Louisiana will enter Phase Two of Reopening effective Friday, June 5.
