Saturday update: St. John Parish reporting 801 COVID-19 cases

LAPLACE — There were 801 of reported COVID-19 cases and 76 deaths in St. John the Baptist Parish on Saturday, according to the Louisiana Department of Health. This is up from 791 on Friday.
St. Charles Parish has 593 reported cases and 43 deaths, while St. James has 257 reported cases and 20 deaths.
Statewide, there are 3,1417 confirmed cases of COVID-19 across all 64 parishes. This marks an increase of 562 cases since yesterday’s report.
There were 2,194 deaths statewide as of Saturday, which was an increase of 40 since Friday’s report. The first death in the state was reported on March 14.
According to the Louisiana Department of Health, there are 1,359 COVID-19 patients in hospitals across the state. Of these patients, 185 are on ventilators.
The state is now reporting that 20,316 people who have tested positive are presumed to have recovered as of May 2.

Governor John Bel Edwards has extended his Stay at Home order for Louisiana residents through May 15.
