LaPlace Juvenile arrested for burglary of a car dealership

A 17-year-old male juvenile from LaPlace was arrested May 7, 2020 in connection with a burglary of a business.
At about 1:30 a.m. on May 7, patrol officers observed an unknown male, later identified as the 17-year-old male juvenile, walking inside a lot of a car, truck and SUV dealership on Belle Terre Boulevard in LaPlace. As officers were exiting their unit, the suspect fled on foot. Refusing verbal commands, the juvenile continued fleeing, crossing Belle Terre Boulevard where he was subsequently detained behind a business. During a search of the suspect’s person, a key fob was found inside his front pants pocket. The fob has been taken from an unsecured 2020 Ford Expedition on the dealership’s lot.
The juvenile was charged for simple burglary – motor vehicle, criminal trespass – immovable property, resisting an officer (misd). He also was booked on a judicial warrant for theft of a motor vehicle. He was released May 7 to his mother.
