Wednesday update: St. John Parish reports 790 COVID-19 cases

LAPLACE — There were 790 of reported COVID-19 cases and 75 deaths in St. John the Baptist Parish on Wednesday, according to the Louisiana Department of Health.
There was 782 reported cases of COVID-19 and 75 deaths in St. John the Baptist Parish on Tuesday.
St. Charles Parish has 590 reported cases and 41 deaths, while St. James has 256 reported cases and 20 deaths.
Statewide, there are 30,399 confirmed cases of COVID-19 across all 64 parishes. This marks an increase of 403 cases since yesterday’s report.
There were 2,042 deaths statewide as of Tuesday, which was an increase of 51 since Monday’s report. The first death in the state was reported on March 14. The Louisiana Department of Health has not uploaded new data on the number of fatalities as of 4 p.m. Wednesday.
According to the Louisiana Department of Health, there are 1,465 COVID-19 patients in hospitals across the state. Of these patients, 187 are on ventilators.
The state is now reporting that 20,316 people who have tested positive are presumed to have recovered as of May 2.

Governor John Bel Edwards has extended his Stay at Home order for Louisiana residents through May 15.
