Thursday update: St. John reports 768 COVID-19 cases

LAPLACE — As of the Thursday update from the Louisiana Department of Health, there have been 768 reported cases of COVID-19 and 69 deaths in St. John the Baptist Parish.
On Wednesday, there were 765 recorded cases and 68 deaths in St. John Parish.
St. Charles Parish has 570 reported cases and 38 deaths, while St. James has 246 reported cases and 19 deaths.
Statewide, there are 28, 001 confirmed cases of COVID-19 across all 64 parishes. This marks an increase of 341 cases since yesterday’s report.
There have been 1,862 deaths statewide, which is an increase of 60 since Wednesday’s report. The first death in the state was reported on March 14.
According to the Louisiana Department of Health, there are 1,601 COVID-19 patients in hospitals across the state. Of these patients, 231 are on ventilators.
The state is now reporting that 17,303 people who have tested positive are presumed to have recovered as of April 26.

Edwards has extended his Stay at Home order for Louisiana residents through May 15.
