The 8-year-old Biddy Basketball All-Star team is competing in the national tournament this weekend in Thibodaux. They recently defeated St. Charles in the regional championship.

LAPLACE — The 8-year-old Biddy Basketball All-Star Team has advanced to play in the National Tournament from March 13 – 17 in Thibodaux.

The Parks & Recreation recently hosted teams from Jefferson Parish, St. Charles, Kenner and New Orleans for a regional tournament at REGALA Gym in Reserve. With only three losses this season, the 8-year-olds beat St. Charles in the Regional Championship game to move on to nationals.

“We want to congratulate the 8-year-old team on their outstanding accomplishment and also thank all for their time and effort in going into a successful tournament,” said St. John the Baptist Parish President Jaclyn Hotard. “Good luck at Nationals, we are rooting for you!”

The 10-year-old and 12-year-old teams play next weekend.

In other youth athletics news, the St. John Parks and Recreation Department is hosting a soccer clinic from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday, March 21 at the Thomas F. Daley Memorial Park on Highway 51 in LaPlace.
