LAPLACE — The Krewe of Dage made a grand debut in 2019 with nearly 40 double decker floats, signature apple throws and dozens of marching groups. Focused on education, the Krewe of Dage also extended a $2,000 scholarship to essay winner and 2019 East St. John valedictorian Cameron Cage.
The Queen will be crowned at the Krewe of Dage’s Inaugural Mardi Gras Soiree on Feb. 8, 2020 at the St. John Civic Center on U.S. 51 in LaPlace. Its parade will roll on Feb. 23. For more information about participating in the parade, message Krewe of Dage on Facebook or mail kreweofdage@yahoo.com
Dr. Brittani McClain Breaux is the daughter of Jean and Joe Stewart and the late Richard Green, Jr. of LaPlace. Dr. Breaux is married to Mr. Ray Breaux Jr. and has two sons – Noah and Dallas. She is a native to the St. John/River Parish area and an alumna of East St. John High school. She graduated Magna Cum Laude at Loyola University with a double major in pre-medicine and psychology and double minors in Spanish and chemistry. She was accepted into Louisiana State University School of Medicine in New Orleans and received her medical doctorate in 2014.
She has completed her training at the LSU Internal Medicine Residency Program at Our Lady of the Lake Hospital in Baton Rouge, LA, and she has completed her fellowship at Ochsner’s Endocrinology Fellowship Program in New Orleans, LA. Currently, Dr. Breaux has taken an interest in women’s health, focusing on metabolism and endocrine disorders related to managing weight, diabetes, thyroid disease, osteoporosis, and menopause. She is currently employed at Woman’s hospital in Baton Rouge.
She is honored to serve as Krewe of Dage’s first queen and looks forward to working with the krewe to build relations within the community and create advancements within education for our youth.
First Maid Genean Marie Zeno-Bailey is the daughter of Mr. & Mrs. Larry & Monica Smith Zeno, of LaPlace. Mrs. Genean Bailey is the lovely wife of Mr. Wendell Bailey. The proud mother of Erielle Drenean Deggs. Genean is also the sister of Larry Jr. and Torri Zeno. Graduating from East St. John High School Class of 1989, Genean knew she wanted to be a part of fashion and style. Genean went on to Brooks (California) and Bauder (Atlanta) Fashion College where she received her associate of arts degree in Fashion Design.
After completing college, she worked as the youngest supervisor at Baker Heritage sock factory in Reserve, supervisor at Tom James designer dress shirts, and then onto Linley Designs in Harahan, making girls dress samples, for major designers on the upcoming line. In the summer of 2006, Genean became her OWN BOSS, SALON OWNER, and DESIGNER OF HAIR at Pins and Curls Beauty Salon. Gene-an expressed that her “20 years journey of being a cosmetologist would not have been possible if I it was not for my faithful, loyal, loving, and crazy clients”. “I love all of them because there are the kind of people that makes the world go around.”
Genean is one of the founding ladies of Krewe of Dage’, where she was elected as the Treasurer. Genean express her excitement when she heard about the Queen contest, because of her passion to contribute more to the Krewe that she help build. As well as celebrating her birthday the same day as the parade. Her motto is One Team Heartbeat!!
Second Maid Ms. Chelsea Andrea Cola is the daughter of Mr. & Mrs. Andrew & Erica Cola Jr. of Gramercy. She is the sister of Jontrae Cage and Dighon Felton. She is a 2015 graduate of Lutcher High School where she was a four-year varsity athlete of the Lady Bulldog Basketball and Track. Ms. Cola currently attends Baton Rouge Community College where she is studying to become a surgical technician. Ms. Cola currently resides in Gramercy with her parents, brother, and her four legged offspring Zulu. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with family, friends, and traveling.
Her motto is Family First.
