Hahnville shares District Championship in 9-3 season

HAHNVILLE – Coach Nick Saltaformaggio and the Hahnville Tigers came off a disastrous 6-6 season by Hahnville standards in 2018. The previous season was marred by a very slow start, but the Tigers got off to a great start in the 2019 season by reeling off eight straight victories. Running back Darryle Evans had over 1,000 yards and 20 touchdowns in the regular season. Quarterback Drew Naquin also eclipsed the 1000-yard mark in passing with 10 touchdowns during the regular season. After eight weeks, Hahnville was ranked in the top 10 in Class 5A.
In week 9, Hahnville suffered their first loss of the season to Jesuit, 24 -14. The Tigers also lost the last game of the season to eventual State Runner-up Destrehan, 23 – 21. Hahnville finished the regular season 8 – 2 with a share of the 7-5A District Championship.
Hahnville entered the 5A state playoffs as the No. 12 seed and soundly defeated Chalmette 28 – 6 in the first round. The Tigers were ousted from the playoffs after a controversial loss to Zachary, 21-19, in the second round of the playoffs. Hahnville finished a successful season with a 9-3 record.
