LAPLACE — The Ascension of Our Lord Knights of Columbus Council 9623 will once again participate in the Thanksgiving Fried Turkey Program for 2019. Delicious fried turkeys will be available in time for Thanksgiving feasts.
Turkeys range in size from 10 to 12 pounds. They are specially prepared and seasoned by Council members and will be sold for $40 per turkey. The pre-order deadline is Nov. 10.
Orders can be placed with any AOL Knights of Columbus member. The $40 payment per Turkey may also be mailed to 2004 East Frisco Drive in LaPlace. Please make checks payable to Ascension of Our Lord Council 9623.
There will be a limited amount of deep fried turkeys, and Council 9623 public relations manager James Poche Jr. advises ordering as soon as possible. There will be a first come, first served policy.
“Seasoned and Deep-Fried Turkey, is a delicacy that is enjoyed by all!” Poche said. “This Thanksgiving, let our Council cook your Turkey, while helping to take some of the work from you, so you can prepare other dishes!”
Each Fried Turkey will come in a pan with reheating instructions. Orders can be picked in front of The Ascension of Our Lord Church at 1900 Greenwood Drive across from Ascension of Our Lord School in LaPlace. The pickup date and time is from 2 to 5 p.m. Nov. 26.

AOL KC Bingo
In other AOL Knights of Columbus news, Council 9623 recently sponsored a bingo at the Southeast Louisiana Veterans Home in Reserve.
“It is filled with the finest Veterans you could ever have the pleasure to meet and talk to,” Poche said. “We played Bingo to a packed house of Veterans eager to win! Our Council schedules a Bingo every quarter. If organizations or individuals would like to sponsor a bingo, simply call the Veterans Home and ask for Ladashia Kelson.”
AOL 4-H members and their parents were present to assist with the bingo games.
Silver Rose Mass
Council 9623 also hosted a Silver Rose Mass on Oct. 9 that demonstrated unity between Knights of Columbus members in Canada, the United States and Mexico by inviting members to pray for the spiritual renew of each nation.
