GARYVILLE — At about 1 p.m. Tuesday, deputies with the St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff’s Office responded to the 100 block of Sherman Walker Street in Garyville in reference to a shooting.

Upon arrival, deputies made contact with a 20-year-old female victim who was lying on the grass near a residence. According to police, investigation revealed Ike Brown, 58, of Garyville shot the victim in the leg during a physical altercation. Brown remained on scene, and officers arrested him. Officers applied a tourniquet to the victim’s leg. Emergency medical services then transported the victim to a New Orleans hospital where she is in good condition.

Brown was booked with domestic abuse battery (misd), aggravated assault with a firearm (felony) three counts and aggravated second degree battery. He was released Wednesday.
