LAPLACE — Ten years have passed since Dionne Gant-Duhe was killed in a hit and run car accident in LaPlace, but she will never be forgotten. Each year, her family hosts a prayer vigil to honor her memory while also keeping the accident in the forefront of the community.

Dionne was killed at approximately 5:45 a.m. Oct. 14, 2009 on Airline Highway and Belle Pointe Boulevard in LaPlace.

Theran Johnson, cousin of the late Dionne Gant-Duhe, plants a sign for justice at the Oct. 14 vigil.

Necohle Stanton (aunt) and Daetyn McNeely (cousin) were among the family members in attendance at the vigil in memory of Dionne Gant-Duhe.

No one has ever been arrested for the crime, and no one has come forward or admitted guilt.

The family would like to thank the community for continued prayers and thoughts, which special thanks to the East St. John Class of 1990 for always showing love and support on behalf of their classmate. Danica Mason, Davina Lennix and Keeva Burke-Johnson were among the classmates who attended this week’s vigil.
