LAPLACE — Old U.S. 51 (aka the Low Road) in LaPlace, between Milepoint 1 and Milepoint 8, is closed until further notice.

Brian Giaratano, maintenance specialist for Tangipahoa and St. John the Baptist parishes for the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development, made the announcement Sunday (May 12) afternoon, noting there is water over the roadway.

Motorists are advised to avoid this area.

I-55 should be used as an alternate route.
