Isadore “Butch” Martin Sylve Jr.

Isadore “Butch” Martin Sylve Jr., 70, went to be with our Lord after a long illness on Jan. 3, 2019.
He joins parents Isadore Martin Sr. and Eva Ceasar Sylve, sister Dianne Sylve Lewis and brother Donald Sylve.
Isadore was an active member of Lacey Wash. Sacred Heart Catholic Church for over 35 years and devoted his service as a Cantor and choir member for over 25 years.
He was proud to serve his church and our Lord Jesus Christ. Much love was given and received from his beloved choir.
During his illness, Isadore was cared for the entire time by his loving and devoted wife of 30 years, Rose Gresham Sylve.
Isadore, born in LaPlace, Nov. 16, 1948, was the fourth of 11 children who all briefly attended Our Lady of Grace Catholic School in Reserve.
Isadore graduated from Fifth Ward High School 1967; joined the Army in 1969 – 1971; became a disabled Vietnam Vet following a war injury and was awarded a Purple Heart for courage and bravery many years later, December 2018.
Isadore entered the federal workforce and retired as a faithful employee completing 30 years of service, at Tacoma Wash. Branch post office; acquired a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1984, University of Seattle.
Isadore leaves behind sons, Isadore Sylve III of California and Andre’ Gresham of Olympia, Wash; grandfather to Aundrea Gresham, Isadore Martin Sylve IV and Audrianna Sylve-Saulsberry.
He leaves behind four Sylve brothers, Michael, Gary, John (Brenda) and Andrew (Deborah); four Sylve sisters, Carolyn (Eulice Garrett), Jennifer (Anthony Banks), Sharon (Ronald Parquet) and Mariea (Adam Shelton, Sr). The list also includes two step-sisters, two step-brothers, devoted godmother (Margie Young) and great Aunt Ethel Braud; as well as other aunts and uncles with a host of nieces, nephews and a multitude of cousins.
