GONZALES — A St. John the Baptist Parish man were sentenced last week in Ascension Parish, according to 23rd Judicial District Public Information Officer Tyler Cavalier.

Owen Shelton, of LaPlace, pleaded guilty to felony carnal knowledge of a juvenile and was sentenced to six years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served.

Judge Thomas Kliebert ordered three years of the 29-year-old’s sentence served without benefit of parole, probation or suspension of sentence.

The remaining three years are suspended.

Upon release from incarceration, Shelton faces three years of supervised probation.

In addition, Shelton must register and notify as a sex offender or child predator.
