Sherman Walker Correctional passes public safety inspection

LAPLACE — The Sherman Walker Correctional Facility passed an annual inspection conducted by the Louisiana Department of Public Safety and Corrections, Sheriff Mike Tregre said on Monday.

According to the Sheriff’s Office, the inspection certified the Sherman Walker Correctional Facility’s continued compliance with basic jail guidelines and standards.

Among the standards reviewed are management, personnel training, records, inmate safety, medical and health care, education, food, work programs and facility site. Major Jimmy Oubre serves as the facility’s warden.
