METAIRIE — Park-A-Boo is a Halloween Festival primarily for children under 13 years to wear costumes and enjoy the Halloween season that continues through Sunday at Lafreniere Park in Metairie.

Multiple attractions allow a variety of activities that are age appropriate for families to enjoy together.

The Boo House is our version of a not too scary haunted house. Trick or Treat along Treat Street and stop by 11 “houses” to get a candy treat. Have your face painted: it’s free. Get a balloon sculpture; it’s free too! Stop by the Story Tent and listen to a Halloween story. Dive into a real hay stack and romp in the hay.

Play any one or all of the 11 games to win a candy treat. They are all free to play.

Bring your camera or cellphone to take a photo with any one of the many roaming cartoon characters you will find on the festival grounds. Sing and dance to the music on the Entertainment Stage.

Boo-tiful Costume Contests are on stage daily: Saturday at 3:30 and 5:30 p.m., and Sunday at 3:30 p.m. Register 30 minutes before each contest at the Entertainment Tent. Cost is $5. Every contestant wins a trophy or a medallion.

Food and beverages are available for purchase. Menu includes: Domino’s Pizza, hot dogs, nachos, popcorn, pickles, soft drinks and bottled waters.

Festival grounds are alcohol and smoke free. No pets, please.

Saturday hours are 1 to 8:30 p.m. and Sunday hours are 1 to 5:30 p.m.
