Through Oct. 27, St. John the Baptist Parish residents can visit the Verizon store, 901 W. Airline Highway in LaPlace and nominate veterans to receive care packages — valued at $40 each — filled with books, puzzles, hygiene items and more.

Veterans who are chosen will be notified by Nov. 3, and can pick up their care packages between Nov. 6-10.
