LAPLACE — Unsettled weather associated with a disturbance moving through the northern Gulf of Mexico could impact the area beginning Sunday through next week. The greatest impacts are expected Monday and into Tuesday.
Potential impacts include elevated tides, heavy rainfall and strengthening winds.
The forecast is still very uncertain, St. John officials said, however residents should monitor weather outlets and make preparations for unfavorable weather conditions to begin Sunday. Residents are also asked to assist with the predicted heavy rainfall by cleaning catch basins and avoiding placing debris in ditches, drainage canals and on the side of the road as to not impede drainage.
St. John the Baptist Parish officials are monitoring weather conditions and are in contact with the National Weather Service to receive the latest weather forecasts.
