LAPLACE — A registered sex offender and Lafourche Parish resident has been linked to more than a dozen vehicle burglaries that struck LaPlace in late August, police said.

Errol Richard Falcon Jr., 39, of Des Allemands turned himself in to the St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff’s Office Tuesday.

Sheriff Mike Tregre said Falcon is responsible for vehicle burglaries that occurred around Catherine Court, Riverlands Estates, Ingleside and Cole’s Landing.

Falcon was booked with the 15 counts of burglary and will have a parole hold. He is being held in custody in lieu of a $150,000 bond.

A Sheriff’s Office release noted Falcon’s criminal history, including convictions for burglary and his status as a registered sex offender.

From Aug. 28-30, the St. John Sheriff’s Office received several calls for service in LaPlace neighborhoods in reference to vehicles that were broken into.

All of the vehicles were unlocked, detectives said.

Video from home surveillance systems and the SJSO Crime Camera System was collected, detectives said, leading to the identification of a Lincoln Navigator used by the perpetrator, later identified as Falcon.

Detectives learned Falcon was residing in Des Allemands, and the Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office assisted in obtaining a search warrant for Falcon’s residence.

“There, detectives recovered some of the stolen property from the vehicle burglaries that occurred in St. John Parish,” the Sheriff’s Office said.
