Powerhouse Pilates Boutique owner Richelle Lyons Guidry and instructors Jaime Rich and Jenny Anderson hosted their first Yoga Junior event last week in LaPlace, hosting 19 children between 4-11.

Located at 407 East Airline Highway, next to Frostop, Guidry said last kids yoga event promoted focus, mindfulness and meditation.

Guidry said yoga inspires children.

“It teaches them about their bodies, promoting great awareness, how to breathe correctly, gaining peace of mind, how to quiet the mind, helping them to listen with focus and attention and to make good decisions,” Guidry said. “The mind is very powerful. What we speak and think is very powerful, so it is up to them to feed their minds with positive thoughts and to ignore the negative ones.”
