RESERVE — The St. John Parish Sugar Queen committee is seeking contestants for this year’s St. John Parish Sugar Queen Pageant, which is celebrating its 69th year with “Big Apple, NYC.”
The pageant will be held at 7 p.m. Aug. 12 at St. John Theatre in Reserve. The Sugar Queen Pageant helps promote a great deal of pride in the parish and local Queens have always been outstanding ambassadors showcasing the spirit of St. John Parish in Statewide Competition and community events.
Teen contestants must be between 14 and 17 for the Teen category and 18 and 22 for the Miss category, as well as live in St. John the Baptist Parish.
The ladies compete in an interview the morning of the pageant and then an introduction and evening wear competition later that night on the stage.
The public is welcome to join 68th St. John Parish Sugar Queen Heather Roussel and Teen Queen Ali Vicknair in a sweet experience as they bid their farewells and crown the new pageant queens.
Come be a part of a historical event in St. John.
