Steven Wayne Treadway, 39, of LaPlace was arrested this week in connection with a narcotics investigation involving the psychedelic drug LSD.
St. John Sheriff’s Office Special Operations detectives announced they had been investigating Treadway for drug manufacturing and distribution since early May.
Special Operations detectives initiated a search-and-seizure warrant Monday for Treadway’s home in the 1000 block of Lilac Street in LaPlace, where his arrest was made.
Detectives discovered three plastic bags containing about eight grams of methamphetamine and a clear plastic bag containing about 38 strips of LSD, as well as scales, pipes and other drug paraphernalia, a release from the Sheriff’s Office said.
A Ruger .380 caliber handgun was also discovered, along with several hundred dollars, police said.
Treadway is charged with misdemeanor possession or distribution of drug paraphernalia – 1st offense, illegal carrying of weapon with a controlled dangerous substance, felony possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, felony distribution of LSD and felony distribution/manufacture of methamphetamine (felony).
He is being held in custody in lieu of a $71,500 bond.
“The investigation is ongoing, and additional charges are pending,” a Sheriff’s Office statement read.
Authorities said Treadway’s has felony convictions for theft and possession of MDMA.
