St. John Parish, Southeast Louisiana under Flash Flood Watch

LAPLACE — The National Weather Service has issued a Flash Flood Watch for Southeast Louisiana including St. John Parish until p.m. Monday.
Beginning this afternoon, severe weather and locally heavy rainfall are predicted to impact the area with the main threats being flash flooding, damaging winds, large hail and possible isolated tornadoes.
The National Weather Service has predicted area wide 3 to 6 inches of rainfall with locally higher amounts possible during the weather event and overnight.
In an effort to prepare for the rain event, residents are encouraged to assist in cleaning up catch basins and drainage systems in the neighborhoods. Public Works and Utilities crews will be on hand in the event issues arise overnight.
Residents are asked to call the 9-1-1 Emergency Center to report any issues or concerns.
