Keller: Up your attitude for better life

When dealing with different groups, I often ask if they could change anything about themselves, what would that be.
The answers vary from my looks, my weight, my personality, my negative thinking, etc.
I very seldom hear anyone say my attitude. In confronting those with a negative outlook, I, occasionally, tell them they could use an attitude transplant. I then add that surgery is not necessary and only they can make the change.
Experts tell us it takes six weeks of doing the same thing every day before it becomes a habit. That’s only 42 days of having a good attitude, one day at a time, and then you will complete an attitude change.
The dictionary defines attitude as a manner of acting, feeling or thinking that shows one’s disposition.
Will the change be worth it?
According to Chuck Swindoll, a Christian writer and motivational speaker, it will. He said that the longer he lives, the more he realizes the impact of attitude on life.
He continues to say, “It is more important that the past, than education, than money, than circumstances, than failures, than successes, than what other people think or say or do. It is more important than appearance, giftedness or skill. It will make or break a company … a church … a school … a home … a person.”
“The remarkable thing is we have a choice every day regarding the attitude we will embrace for that day. We cannot change the fact that people will act in a certain way. We cannot change the inevitable. The only thing we can do is play on the one string we have, and it is our attitude.”
Chuck Swindoll says, and I agree, that life is 10 percent what happens to you and 90 percent how you react to it.
