Fifth Ward Elementary School alumni Jacqueline Forest, Sylvia Taylor, Fifth Ward Elementary Principal Drenean Brown, Wanda Madere-Lee, Evelyn Stemley and Robert Taylor present the school with $890, a dedication plaque and several memorabilia items Feb. 14.

The planning committee of Shirley Anderson, Brannetter James, Elois Joseph, Lennix Madere, Clayton Poche, Sylvia Taylor, Robert Taylor, Evelyn Stemley, Wanda Madere-Lee and Jacqueline Forest organized a high school reunion on Dec. 30.

The party with a purpose was a huge success, and helped efforts to give back to Fifth Ward and its students was at the forefront.

The reunion brought back more than 300 former Fifth Ward students to the celebration in Reserve.
