Top spellers in St. John public schools celebrated

The St. John the Baptist Parish Public School District held its District Spelling Bee Jan. 25 and 26.
Winners in sixth grade are, front row, from left, Tobore Takpor, first place; Emani Payne, second place; and Marlisa Nelson and Janneth Lopez-Arriaga, third place. School level winners were, back row, Jamani Warren, Janell Young and Jaylon Franklin.
Students had to first win at their school level to advance to the district competition.
Winners in seventh grade are, front row, from left, Megan Remondet, first place and Lamar Johnigan, second place. School level winners were, back row, Jasmin Maxon, Nicholas Jones, Natali Mok and Re’Sean Baker.
Winners in eighth grade are, front row, from left, Cindy Nguyen, first place; Antwan Johnson, second place; and Crysten Newhouse and Taylor Reid, third place. School level winners were, back row, Deval Ceaser, Delvin Guitroz and Brian Carrera and Jordan Coleman.
