LAPLACE — Periods of rain and isolated thunderstorms will impact the region including St. John the Baptist Parish beginning Saturday afternoon and continuing through the weekend, according to the National Weather Service.

Widespread rainfall totals of three to five inches are predicted with locally higher amounts possible through Monday evening.

Residents who have made plans for outdoor activities on New Year’s should expect significant impacts to outdoor plans, including possible street flooding in low-lying areas if rainfall occurs in short periods of time.
