Keller: St. Francis Prayer Group celebrates Savior

Fifteen years ago, the “St. Francis of Assisi Prayer Group” in Vacherie asked if Jeanne and I would attend one of their weekly prayer meetings.
This group of 12 ladies reaches out to people with prayer support, financial aid and assistance to their local church.
Since that time of our first meeting, they have been instrumental in encouraging and supporting Get High on Life.
Sunday night we were invited to celebrate Christmas with them at the home of Lola Mahler, who helped to organize the group 18 years ago.
After a delicious meal and wonderful fellowship, they handed Jeanne and me a gift with a card that read, “Mr. Harold and Mrs. Jeanne, As we wait for the birth of our Savior, we are awed by both your unselfishness and your ‘yes’ to God’s will, just as the Blessed Virgin Mary said yes to the angel Gabriel when he announced God’s favor upon her to carry His son, Jesus.
“We pray, by y’all example, we can also say ‘yes’ to what God is calling us to do in our lives. May this joyful season keep you both in the peace of Christ! Let us rejoice in the miracle. Let us open our hearts to His love!”
On the way home, I told Jeanne that God must really love us a lot to have put people like that in our lives.
We had a great time, laughed a lot, enjoyed a great meal and it wasn’t about preparing for the holidays, but it was about Christmas and celebrating the birth of our Savior Jesus Christ.
Have a blessed Christmas!
