LAPLACE — As the 2016 softball season wraps up this week, it looks like Riverside and St. Charles Catholic will be sharing the District 12-2A title.
Riverside finished its district slate Tuesday with a 17-0 and 19-0 sweep of Country Day. Thursday’s 10-2 non-district victory over Holden left the Lady Rebels with an overall record of 21-6 and a 7-1 record in district play.
Riverside will face some stiffer competition next week with games against St. Amant (21-5) Monday and John Curtis (16-6) Wednesday.
St. Charles closed out its district schedule with a pair of 15-0 wins over West St. John Tuesday and a 15-0 win over Country Day Thursday. That leaves the Lady Comets with an overall record of 21-3 and a district record of 7-1.
They will tune up for the playoffs with a game Monday against De La Salle and a Tuesday game against Covington.
East St. John (6-18, 0-11) will close out its District 7-5A schedule Monday against Central Lafourche. It’s final game is slated for Wednesday at home against Donaldsonville.
West St. John (1-8, 0-6) has games scheduled against Donaldsonville Monday, Higgins Tuesday and its final district game against Country Day Wednesday.
The playoff pairings will be announced Thursday.
