Freeman: De’Jeuner scholarships help many at SCLTC

The second annual De’Jeuner for Scholarships is fast approaching.
This scholarship fund is available to all South Central Technical College students. Where most scholarships come into the college for specific departments, this is our Reserve Campus Fund and it is open to all students in any program of study.
The luncheon will be held at New Wine Christian Fellowship in the multi-purpose room at 11:30 a.m. Oct. 15.
The guest speaker will be Mr. Steve Morgan.
Mrs. Cindy Poskey heads this project and has managed to keep costs to a bare minimum. With sponsorships from Industry Partners, we are able to distribute 90 percent of the funds collected to students.
For those students without financial aid or limited resources, this scholarship goes a long way to assist in them reaching the goal of completion, graduation and employment right here in our community.
Last year, the luncheon raised $6,900 in real dollars for students at the Reserve Campus. Our goal this year is to reach $10,000.
2014 recipients of the De’ Jeuner Scholarship were: Joseph Vaugh, Dustin Stuard, Brandon Robichaux, Chaz Hampton, Rosie Johnson, Max Koeck IV, Nicole Lear and Carlton Royal Jr.
